I have been looking for recipes of one dish meals especially stews at allows the family to eat for a few meals.
One such recipe was braised pork belly with egg and yau kwa.
After browsing through some recipe and asking my mum about the preparation. Here's my version:
Ingredients:
Belly Pork 800g (cut into llarge bite size pcs)
Dark soy sauce 4 tbsp
Light soy sauce 3tbsp
Rock Sugar 1 pc
Garlic (skin left on the individual cloves) about 6-7 cloves
Water
Hard boiled eggs 5pcs
Tau Kwa 5pcs
Spices - cinnamon x2, star anise x1. manadarin orange skin x1
coriander seed powder x 2 tsp
Method:
1. Marinate the pork with dark sauce, light soy sauce, rock sugar and coriander seed powder for about 30 mins
2. Pour the marinade and pork into a pot, add garlic and spices into the mixture.
3. Turn heat on to high and as soon as the pot is hot, turn to medium and simmer, stirring occasionally to coat pork with soy sauce. When pork is half done, maybe about 20 mins in, add a bit of water if sauce gets too dry. Simmer for 20 mins
4.Add eggs and tau kwa and simmer for another 20 mins or until pork is tender and eggs take on dark color of soy sauce.
Cabbages was added for additional fibre
