Dried Tee Poh is a very common item that we buy during Chinese New Year - Its mainly use as a seasoning for stock in steamboat.
Actually is very versatile, we use it to make meat balls more tasty and its also used in Teochew Bak Chor Mee.
At home we will usually dry roast it on the wok and then grind it into powder before storing in airtight containers.
I cannot imagine myself standing on the wok so i improvised the method by baking at 180deg for 7 min ...!! Equally good if not better
