In my childhood memories, i remembered of eating kueh lapis during CNY visiting at my uncle's place.
Most of the lapis were made by his clients .....
I never quite like the smell as i find it too strong for my liking
Never dare to make it as its too tedious to make till i took classes ....
Here's my trial bake
Belling has been the "oven" for making lapis speckok but i need to adjust it for my teka oven.
Here's my adjustment: oven temp of 175 deg and grill mode at 180
Baking time: 10 mins (8th min starts to brown and turn the tin for last 2 mins for even baking) at middle rack
Its is very satisfying to see how the lapis turned out, in order for the lines to be obvious we need to bake it till brown ....
Btw, there are 2 layers that was sl burnt!! as i was experimenting with all the temp setting
I love the taste of mixed spices and rum in this cake!! No more funny smelling lapis!!
I made another lapis today!! Used the same method as the trial version, but this time, we know the temp and timing!! Practice makes prefect!!
