I have always love traditional tau sa piah especially near mooncake festival
After watching the recent tv programme, i decided to search for tau sa piah!!
There are 2 places that i went one at upp cross street, near hong lim and another beach road.
The upp cross street shop named Bao Yuan, tau sa piah was very crispy and fragrant. Once you bite it everything crumbles ....
However, i do note that there was an oily after taste that makes my tummy uncomfortable
I then realised that they probably used a large amount of lard to produce such a crispy texture ... but not healthy for the body
Another place was Si Tai at beach road, used to be from liang seah street.
The tau sa piah is less crispy but thin layers of tau sa piah skin was very well define
Its fragant yet not oily, you can definitely eat a few at one go without problem
One of their specialty was wu xia gao ... frangrant and light on texture.
It really bring back many childhood memories ....
